About Us

Neighbours Support Centre is a charitable organization committed to bringing hope and practical support to people in vulnerable situations. Through its own initiatives and partnerships with community organizations and foundations, Neighbours Support Centre serves children, single mothers, seniors, people struggling with mental health or addictions, and other vulnerable groups. By connecting people with resources, encouragement, and caring relationships, the organization helps individuals overcome challenges, build resilience, and thrive. 

Mission

To strengthen the lives of individuals and families experiencing vulnerability by providing compassionate support, meaningful connections, and access to resources that overcome challenges, provide opportunities, and foster hope and resilience. Through different initiatives and collaborative partnerships, we are committed to helping people overcome barriers and thrive in their communities.  

Our Focus

Events

  • Our Diversity is our Strength—And It's Also a Lifesaver

    Did you know that September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month? This fall, Neighbours Support Centre and Faith City Church are partnering with Canadian Blood Services and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Atlantic Canada (SCDAAC) to host a vital community blood drive.

    Patients with Sickle Cell Disease rely on regular blood transfusions, and the safest match often comes from donors with shared ancestral backgrounds—specifically those of African, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Mediterranean descent.

    Whether you are a first-time donor or a regular contributor, your donation makes a direct, life-saving impact right here in our community. Every unit counts!

  • Join Christina Tellez, Tenants’ Rights Educator with Nova Scotia Legal Aid, for a practical workshop on tenants’ rights, preventing evictions, and navigating the residential tenancies system.

    Topics covered will include:

    • Leases 101: Understanding fixed-term vs. periodic leases and your basic rights as a renter.

    • Evictions & Disputes: What to know about notices to quit, eviction orders, renovictions, and handling maintenance issues.

    Whether you are a first-time renter, dealing with lease changes, or have been renting for years, all are welcome!

  • The HRP Seniors’ Home Safety Program (SHSP) is a free service that provides information and tips to reduce the risk of accidents, injuries, and victimization of seniors.

    This valuable program is for seniors, their family, and caregivers, and is delivered by trained volunteer senior citizens who provide information on a number of topics including property crime prevention, elder abuse, frauds & scams, fire safety, fall prevention and general safety tips.

    Date: Tuesday, November 24, 2026​

    Time: 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.​
